The Facts about Muscle Pain

Did you know, according to the Bone and Joint Decade (Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health), “globally, the number of people suffering from musculoskeletal conditions has increased by 25 percent over the past decade”? More and more of us are suffering with musculoskeletal conditions, which are quite simply, muscle and skeletal problems, and the way we work and live our daily lives today could be a huge aspect in the way we use our bodies. There are more of us hunched over a computer screen, working at an office, and pour over iPads, which is having an ill-desired effect on our posture and the way we hold ourselves.

Recently, the BBC have written an article titled Is back, neck and muscle pain hurting the UK economy?, which suggests that office work can be a great cause in musculoskeletal health problems. They outline that “Almost 31 million days of work were lost last year due to back, neck and muscle problems, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS)”.

I received a warm and friendly service from Bronwen at Bristol Chiropractic Clinic as well as a fantastic assessment and treatment. I felt amazing after and had the first pain free night in ages. Thank you!

Muscle Pain Treatment

With this in mind, we’re constantly retraining and ensuring we use the most effective and up to date methods in our professional chiropractic treatments to ensure quick pain relief and pain symptom treatment.

Although many of the causes of pain, especially back pain, is due to the spine and the pressure certain areas of the bone is putting on the nerves, muscle can also be a factor that should be addressed when it comes to pain relief. We are experts in manipulation and muscle massage, which helps increase blood flow to the affected area in order to speed up the healing process.

Remember, muscles don’t just get tight and joints don’t just flare up, it’s the way you move that stresses these areas of your body therefore overloads it, which in turn causes pain. It’s important to keep in mind that pain is an imperative signal, and if ignored, could cause damage for good!
